Broadcast Journalism

Becoming a Producer

As a staff member in my first year involved in BNN(Bull Dog News Network), I would work every week to create news and magazine segments. In my second year, I was offered the opportunity to interview for the competitive role as a Producer for BNN. I attained this honor in my Junior year of high school.  Every week I worked hard along with a fellow producer to create a weekly "News Show". As well as producing the show, we would anchor the introductions to each segment. Below is a few examples of the weekly show.

"News Show" Examples :

Annual Lip Dub:

I played a producing and filming role in the creation of our annual Lip Dub music video. This video was made to promote school spirit and promote our broadcast program. Everything the Bull Dog News Network produces can be found on Youtube at CNHS Media.

News and Magazine Show Segment Examples

The annual student-led concert, "American Pie", took place on May 4, 2019. The concert consists of many alumni as well as student performers. BNN sat down with two different kinds of participants to learn about the traditional event.

Chuck Taylor Night

Chuck Taylor graduated from Columbus North in the year of 1919. One of the basketball games at the school was in honor of the former alumni. BNN sat down with students to learn about their thoughts on the event.

Women on the Street Interviews

During my Sophomore year, as a journalism staff member, I wanted to push myself out of my comfort zone and try to broaden my broadcast skills. Instead of having the role behind the camera, I wanted to be in front of the camera.  I came up with the idea and asked my adviser for the opportunity to have my own interview show. I created  a woman on the street show and it  was called the "KAM Chat". It consisted of me walking around during free periods to ask fun and silly questions to learn more about Columbus North's student body.

BCSC PROM

I had the opportunity as a Freshman to be able to co-anchor the 2018 BCSC Prom Red Carpet. Through this opportunity, I was able to discuss the preparations, parade, and evening experiences with the prom attendees.
